How Do I Dispute a Review?

Wedding pros are entitled to submit a one-time Review Dispute if they believe the review violates our Reviews Policy. Our team aims to be a neutral third party between reviewers and wedding pros. Therefore, we will not adjudicate disagreements, discrepancies, clarifications, absolute truth, or determine who is “right” or “wrong”. Our Trust & Safety team is limited to assessing whether a review: (1) meets client and event eligibility requirements, and/or (2) contains content that violates our policy.

This team evaluates all review disputes independently and may request documentation from both parties to determine client, event, or content eligibility, allowing 10 calendar days for a response. Based on the outcome of the evaluation, the team may proceed with any appropriate enforcement action including, but not limited to, removing the review, requesting the reviewer to resubmit without violating content, or allowing the review to remain on the storefront.

Please note that TKWW does not author, edit, or publish review content and is therefore not responsible for the opinions or statements expressed within reviews. Each user is solely responsible for the content they post. The Knot Worldwide reserves the right to keep or remove any content from our site(s).

Valid Reasons for Disputing a Review

Our team will accept disputes on the basis of the below reasons only:

  • Client eligibility
    • The review was written by a non-client or providing second/third-hand perspectives
  • Event eligibility
    • The event being reviewed was not wedding-related
    • The review is for an event that took place more than 2 years ago
    • The review focuses on introductory services such as trials, tastings, or tours
  • Contains any of the below violating content:
    • Any profanity, including censored profanity
    • Obscene or sexually explicit material
    • Hateful or discriminatory content based on someone’s race/color/ethnicity, religion, national origin/immigration status, disability or serious health condition, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity/gender expression, marital/family/pregnancy status, veteran status, age, caste or any other characteristic protected under applicable law
    • Abusive, degrading, menacing, or threatening content (e.g. harassment, name-calling, threats of violence)
    • Any content that is found to be verifiably false, supported by objective documentation
      • Disagreements, differing opinions or perspectives, differences in recollection, minor discrepancies or clarifications such as incorrect event dates, names, or other claims that cannot be disproved with objective documentation do not qualify as verifiably false violating content.
    • Private identifying information, including but not limited to: full names, dates of birth, addresses (outside of public business addresses), medical information, etc.
    • Any content or materials that are copyrighted, trademarked or otherwise protected intellectual property under applicable law without the owner’s consent
    • Duplicate content, which we define as content from a previously posted review or from a client that has already reviewed the event professional
    • Spam, promotional material, or irrelevant content not based on a first-hand personal service experience.

Invalid Reasons for Disputing a Review (Not Comprehensive)

Our team will not accept disputes based on, among other things:

  • Subjective opinions, disagreements, discrepancies, or differing perspectives. TKWW only will accept disputes if there is content that is verifiably false supported by objective documentation. The following non-exhaustive examples are not considered verifiably false, and our paid vendors can instead post a response to provide further context or clarity.
  • Differences of opinion. TKWW does not adjudicate differences of opinion or subjective experiences.
  • Disagreement with the reviewer’s statements, claims, or perspectives.
  • Clarifications & minor discrepancies such as differences in recollection or any minor discrepancies such as incorrect event dates, times, names, etc. or any other statements that cannot be proven as verifiably false with objective documentation.
  • Reviews posted more than 12 months ago. We don’t expect reviewers or event professionals to retain documentation beyond that timeframe.
  • Disagreement with a prior Review Dispute decision. Reviews can only be disputed once. After the case has been closed, the decision is final and the review is no longer eligible for dispute.
  • Enforcing private contract terms. TKWW is not a party to, and does not enforce private contracts between clients and event professionals, including terms that attempt to restrict or condition a client’s ability to post a review. Vendors remain responsible for their own contractual language, and such clauses may impact a vendor’s TKWW award eligibility. Please refer to our Award Terms for more information on eligibility.
  • Refund agreements. Our Review Policy focuses only on whether a review follows our guidelines, and our Dispute decisions are not influenced or determined by any refund negotiation, request, denial, or payment dispute.

To Dispute a Review:

  • Navigate to the Reviews section of your The Knot or WeddingWire Dashboard
  • Click ‘Dispute’ under the review you wish to challenge
  • Please identify which of the three valid reasons you are disputing the review: (1) Client eligibility, (2) Event eligibility, or (3) Review contains violating content.
  • Provide as much detail as possible supporting the reason(s) you are disputing the review, including any documentation you may have to prove that a statement is verifiably false, as defined in our Review Policy.

Investigating and Resolving Review Disputes

  • Once the Review Dispute is submitted, the reviewer may be notified that their review is under evaluation, but they will not see your dispute reasons or any communication or documentation shared with the TKWW team.
  • Our team will begin an internal evaluation and may request documentation from either party, allowing 10 calendar days for a response.
  • Statements of opinion, personal experiences and perspectives, disagreements, or minor discrepancies are not open to dispute.
  • TKWW may proceed with any appropriate enforcement action, including, but not limited to, removing the review, requesting the reviewer to resubmit without violating content, or allowing a review to remain on the storefront. The Knot Worldwide reserves the right to keep or remove any content from our site(s).
  • All dispute decisions are final.
